With Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste
20g self-rising flour
50g chilled unsalted butter
a pinch of salt
50g grated mature cheddar cheese
50ml semi-skimmed milk
1/4 teaspoon Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste
1) Preheat oven to 200°C. Lay a baking sheet on a baking tray and lightly brush some oil on it.
2) In a mixing bowl, add self-rising flour, butter, salt, and cheese. Mix well with hands. Next, add the milk in 3 portions. Mix well with hands until you have a cookie-like dough. Here is when you add Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste to the dough and mix well.
3) Separate the dough into 4 portions and place them onto the baking tray with the oiled baking sheet. Brush or dab a bit of milk on top of the doughs and sprinkle some more cheese on it.
4) Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve while its warm with Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste.
*Top tip: Try the cheese scone with some smoked salmon and parsley.
