Family Friendly Farms in Yorkshire

Family Friendly Farms in Yorkshire

Its Yorkshire Day on Saturday 1st August, and we are proud to be a Yorkshire based brand. To celebrate, Mak Tok is running a Yorkshire themed WEEK, collaborating with a range of Yorkshire brands and stockists!

There are also many family friendly farms in Yorkshire that we want to celebrate, with some even having Mak Tok products stocked in their delicious farm shops! With most families staying local this summer due to the ongoing uncertainties and travel restrictions, visiting some beautiful farms is a great way to spend some time outdoors with loved ones, support local businesses and get some vitamin D!

Here, we want to take the opportunity to share some of our favourite farms and farm shops across Yorkshire!

You’ll certainly need the whole day if you take a trip to Cannon Hall Farm as there is sooo much to see and do! In the heart of South Yorkshire, it has been named the best family day out for everyone to enjoy, including seeing the animals, such as Dougal the highland calf and a range of local products in the farm shop. Plus.. you can also bring your dog as there is the Lucky Pup, dog friendly cafe!

Yolk Farm (formerly known as Minskip Farm Shop)

Yolk farm made it onto our hit list for three reasons!

  1. They have a huge hen farm and really cute alpacas. You can even book an Alpaca Experience, having one-on-one time with them. How cute is that?!
  2. If you are a lover of eggs, Yolk Farm is the place for you! It also has the world’s first egg restaurant on a real egg farm, serving a range of delicious meals for the family
  3. They also stock Mak Tok products in their farm shop!

Robertshaw’s Farm Shop has a lovely ambiance, stocking amazing locally sourced products (including Mak Tok). They pride themselves on being a sustainable farm shop, from using renewable forms of energy (including having their own wind turbines on the farm) to having a recycling scheme and even ensuring all fruit and veg is fed back to the animals minimising their impact on the environment.

If you are in and around the Bradford area this summer, this is definitely the farm shop to stop by!

The Copley family have been farming for over 140 years. It’s grown substantially over the years boasting a beautiful farm shop, Moo cafe for a great brunch or afternoon tea as well as venues for functions, suiting all your needs. If you are looking for something a bit different this summer and suitable for all ages, you can try Farmer Copley’s Strawberry Experience where you can pick your own strawberries (table-top style) fresh from the plant. How delicious?! You can book tickets here in advance!

If you are looking for an outing on a sunny day with family, Goodalls of Tong’s Ice Cream Parlour may be the place… particularly for those sweet tooths! Its a family run ice cream parlour and tea rooms on a working farm. Offering an array of 25 different ice cream flavours, family friendly play area and a few animals to look out for, this is perfect for a memorable day out!
