Vegan Satay (Malaysian Style)

With Mak Tok’s Rendang Chilli Paste & Mak Tok’s Satay Chilli Paste

  • 2 large King Oyster Mushroom
  • 2 pinches Salt
  • 250g Mock meat / seitan
  • 2 tablespoon Mak Tok's Rendang Chilli Paste


  • 1/2 Cucumber (sliced)
  • 1 whole Red Onion (sliced)
  • 1 jar Mak Tok's Satay Chilli Paste (for dipping)


1) Slice the mushroom to 1.5cm thickness.

2) Marinade mushroom and mock meat with Mak Tok’s Rendang Chilli Paste and season with salt. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

3) Skewer the mushroom and mock meat.

4) BBQ, dip and enjoy with Mak Tok’s Satay Chilli Paste.

Top tip: tempeh and tofu work equally as well.
