Cola + Chicken = ? … You may think this is an odd combination, but think again! The Cola adds a sweet and smoky flavour in combination with Mak Tok’s slightly spicy sauce. Its sticky and thick texture is perfect for sharing with friends and family.
1) Wash the chicken thoroughly and pat dry. Marinate the chicken with Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste for approximately 5 minutes.
2)Heat up a wok or deep pan until it starts to smoke, then and add oil to it. Pan fry the chicken for 10 minutes with both light soy sauce and dark soy sauce on a medium to high heat.
3) Pour in the cola to create the sauce. Continue cooking until the sauce reduces to a thick sticky texture (almost like marmite). This usually takes another 5-7 minutes.
4) Serve cold or warm.
Top tip: Squeeze a wedge of lime before serving.
Top tip: If you only have light or dark soy sauce (not both) don’t worry! Just use a couple more teaspoons of what you already have.
