  • 10 Shallots (sliced)
  • 200g Tempeh (cut into match sticks)
  • 50g Palm sugar/molasses/dark brown sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoon Mak Tok's Fire Chilli Paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying


1) Pre-heat oil in a wok on medium heat.

2) Deep fry tempeh until golden brown.

3) Drain tempeh on a plate layered with some kitchen roll and set aside.

4) Remove the oil while keeping 2 tablespoon in the wok for stir-fry.

5) Add shallots and sauté for 1 minute before adding Mak Tok’s Fire Chilli Paste.

6) Add tempeh and stir-fry for 2 minutes on medium heat.

7) Turn the heat down to low and coat the tempeh with palm sugar.

8) Season with salt and sugar.
