Hot Pulled Pork

With Mak Tok’s Signature Chilli Paste

  • Let's Cook!
  • Other Recipes

  • Between 1 - 2kg Pork Shoulder Joint
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 5 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Sunflower Oil
  • 1/3 tube Tomato Puree
  • Personal preference Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Mixed Herbs
  • 3 tbsp Mak Tok's Signature Chilli Paste

1) Preheat your slow cooker to a low heat, and then place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Cover it in the salt, pepper, diced garlic cloves, tomato puree and cayenne pepper.

2) Leave the pork for between 8 and 9 hours (I like to cook it overnight!). Do not remove the lid during this time, patience is key.

3) Remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and tear it apart with two forks- If you can’t tear it with two forks, it’s not cooked properly!

4) Heat a pan to the highest possible heat, and add your sunflower oil and pulled pork together. Mix in the mixed herbs, signature chilli paste, and some more garlic if you think it needs it, and fry it for two minutes on a high heat.

5) Remove, and serve!
